Here I reflect the intimate and dreamlike universe of the women of Tehuantepec (known as "the 3rd sex"), as well as their desires, affections, and dreams that frequently encounter obstacles in materializing in a still patriarchal society marked by tensions between tradition, identity, and recognition.
The figure of an androgynous character with a siren-like body embodies the muxe in a space between the human and the fantastic, the possible and the unattainable. Embraced by her dreams on the shore of the sea, her presence evokes both the resilience and melancholy of what remains suspended between desire and reality. The sea foam, reinterpreted through the white huipil, connects the image with the cultural identity of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec. Marking a strong contrast with the red/black that evokes the intense passion of her community.
